Integrated Sensory Psychotherapy (ISP)

  • Integrated Sensory Psychotherapy (ISP) combines traditional talk therapy with consented therapeutic touch. This approach includes vagus nerve stimulation through stretching and facial massage, along with breathing and mindfulness exercises, guided imagery, and progressive muscle relaxation. Together, these techniques deliver a relaxing, holistic therapeutic experience.

  • Imagine comfortably lying down on a heated treatment table, covered with a soft blanket, enjoying the relaxing aroma of your chosen essential oils, and listening to beautiful nature sounds.

Beginning with diaphragmatic breathing exercises, gentle stretches, and progressive muscle relaxation, you'll indulge in a soothing massage of your choice on your face, neck, scalp, ears, shoulders, and hands.

This process helps activate your vagus nerve, which slows down your breathing and heart rate while promoting relaxation and reducing stress.

In this deeply relaxed state, we'll work on the psychological and emotional issues that you choose to talk about and remedy.

Further breathing exercises and guided imagery conclude your session, leaving you feeling grounded and rejuvenated.

  • ISP can help by combining various sensory-based approaches with traditional psychotherapeutic techniques to address emotional, psychological, and physiological issues. It can be beneficial through:

Enhanced Emotional Regulation: ISP uses sensory activities (like breathing exercises, mindfulness, tactile stimulation, or visual aids) to help you better manage and regulate your emotions, reducing anxiety and stress.

Tactile stimulation is simply the process of using touch to stimulate the sense of touch.

Trauma Healing: Sensory integration can help process and release trauma stored in the body, offering a non-verbal way to work through traumatic experiences that may be difficult to articulate.

Improved Mind-Body Connection: By engaging the senses, ISP helps you become more aware of your bodily sensations and how they relate to your emotions and thoughts, fostering a stronger mind-body connection.

Reduction of Symptoms: ISP can help create a more balanced sensory experience, improve focus, and reduce sensory overload.

Personalized Therapy: ISP is highly individualized, meaning I tailor techniques to your specific sensory preferences and needs, making the therapy more effective and engaging for you.

Holistic Approach: ISP considers the whole person, integrating physical, emotional, and psychological aspects, leading to more comprehensive and sustainable healing.

  • I encourage you to wear comfortable clothing or bring a T-shirt to change into if you prefer.

Be assured that you will never be asked to remove your clothing. I will only work on areas to which you have explicitly consented.
